Dog loses out in battle with Christmas tree

Poor old Marley the pointer dog has lost his left eye – after it was skewered by a Christmas tree needle.

The playful puppy ran into owner Milly Parfitt's tree while she was decorating it but, fortunately, the trainee vet noticed the wound and took Marley to an animal hospital.



Miss Parfitt, 21, from Cirencester, said: "I've bought him a new basket, two new cuddly toys and a stocking for Christmas to try and make him feel better.

"I have replaced the real tree with an artificial one now. It was just too dangerous. He doesn't like Christmas trees any more and stays well away from it."
