An inmate fled from prison so he could walk four miles to the nearest police station before handing himself straight back in, a court heard.
Michael Whyte, 24, from Glasgow, staged his escape because he wanted to get away from the flood of drugs at Castle Huntly prison, a low security jail.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that he had achieved his goal after being moved back to a closed prison.
Whyte was given a 30-day sentence to run alongside his present jail term.
