Shark attacks surfing kangaroo in Australia

At first it was greeted with incredulity, then outright mockery. An Australian man's claim that he saw a kangaroo hop down a beach, swim into the sea and get attacked by a 7ft long shark seemed wildly implausible.

But Daniel Hurst is resolutely sticking by his story, dubbed by the Australian media Jaws vs Skippy. Friends ribbed him for being drunk or on drugs, but he said he did not care if people thought he was telling the truth or not.

His unusual story was unsubstantiated until a kangaroo carcass was found on a nearby beach.

Locals said the body washed ashore on Sunday, the day after the alleged shark attack.

See how local newspaper, The Geelong Advertiser, reports the story.
