A search is under way in North Cornwall for a missing guinea pig which has become a "popular" character in Bude.
Now the land where he lived has been prepared for development by the landowner. Locals fears the small mammal has run away or been killed.
Cliff Westaway used to feed Squeak every day. He said: "He was friendly and just a lovely little chap."
Mr Westaway had a special bond with him because he fed him every day.
"I just used to make squeaky noises and he'd come."
People have said they wished they had been given time to try to catch Squeak before the area was flattened.
