TV-channel dispute leads to stabbing

Seattle police have arrested a woman they say stabbed her friend because she changed the TV channel.

The suspect and the 66-year-old woman she's accused of stabbing are neighbours at an assisted living complex in the 3800 block of South Myrtle Street, police spokeswoman Renee Witt said. They were watching TV about 8:15 a.m. on Thursday and started arguing after the victim changed the channel to a religious program.

"I don't know what they were originally watching," Witt said. "But it must have been something really good."

Witt said the suspect, in her late 50s or early 60s, grabbed a six-inch kitchen knife and stabbed her neighbour in the abdomen. She was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The neighbour was arrested for investigation of assault.
