Two council wardens patrolling a river bank gave Jeff, 65, a verbal warning after spotting him hand-feeding the birds.

Jeff, who was at the River Derwent near his home in Derby, said: "They said I could attract rats and that I could get fined £500."
Derby City Council admits it "strongly discourages" duck feeding but claimed that the fine would not be more than £50.
