The strandline of a popular beach has been scattered with dozens of ceramic toilet bowls as part of a campaign to make people think more carefully about what they flush away.
The stunt, at Instow beach in North Devon, was performed at the launch of an campaign by Northern Devon Coast and Countryside Service (NDCCS).
The toilets were put on the beach to raise awareness of "marine litter" as part of the new NDCCS campaign called Bin It, Don't Flush It. The toilets were "installed" and removed on the same day.
The campaign is designed to persuade people to stop putting certain items - such as sanitary towels, nappies and condoms - down toilets, because they end up polluting beaches or blocking sewerage pipes. Other unwanted items include razor blades, plastic bags, bandages and needles.
