Leopard rescued from well in India

A leopard, which had come out of the jungle chasing a dog, fell into a well in Maharatsra.

The owner of the farm, in Dubere village near Nashik, informed the forest department who deployed their squad to rescue the animals.

Ranjan Gaikwad, range forest officer said: “The dog had already died in the well but the leopard was still swimming.”

The rescue squad put a log in the well for the panther to rest on and barricaded the well, keeping a cage on the top to catch the panther.

But the animal jumped over the cage and ran into the nearby sugarcane fields taking everybody by surprise.

“In all likelihood it would have gone back into the jungle because leopards never stay at one place for a long time,” said Gaikwad.
