Roads is Norway are at an all-time maintenance low, says a 76-year-old man who says his dentures broke as he drove over a big bump.
Eindride Edvang was driving on County Road 271 near Sølen in Engerdal in Hedmark County when a hump in the road knocked his dentures out of place in his mouth.
His next ride, he said, was to the dentist. He's not happy.
"Now we just have to get better roads, so that we don't have to take out our dentures when we take a car trip," he fumed. "I've driven cars, trucks, a taxi and even been a driving instructor during the past 56 years, and I've never experienced poorer roads than this year."
Highway maintenance, or the lack thereof, has been a big item of local complaint recently. "We pay so much money in taxes and fees on our cars, that I believe we should be able to look forward to driving," Edvang said.
He revisited the spot where his dentures were displaced, and registered height differences of fully 12 centimeters along the road, caused by settling and humps in the asphalt. Local officials were promising repairs soon.
