An elderly Beaverton woman was rescued after bring stuck in her bathtub for five days.
The rescue began with a call from the woman's daughter. She lives out of the area and hadn't heard from her mother in several days, leading her to call the apartment manager at Westbury Apartments on Greensboro Way.
Maintenance workers broke the lock on the woman's door, entered the apartment and found the woman crying out from her bathtub.
Neighbour Ryan Green said he always makes an effort to help the elderly woman. He knows she struggles to get up and down the stairs, but he never imagined she would become trapped in her bathtub. "I don't know how anyone could get on for five days like that," he said.
The woman said she had drained the water from the tub, but she said she didn't think she needed an ambulance. She was taken to Providence Hospital to be treated. There's no word on her condition.
Green said he always knew his neighbour was tough, but he can't believe she survived. "Did she grab a towel to keep herself warm?" Green said. "I mean, can you imagine, five days, sitting in a tub?"
