The fireman who 'talks' to the animals

This sensitive fireman doesn't just climb trees to rescue cats – he talks them down as well.

Carl Reynolds helps rescued animals through trauma using ancient reiki healing techniques.

His 'gift' began during a three-hour effort to save a horse trapped in a canal.

'Other firefighters were trying to pull him out with a rope, they were about to give up but I couldn't let them,' he said. 'I spoke to him and he told me he was scared and his leg was caught – ten minutes later we got him out.'

'It works on all kinds of animals, from parrots to horses. I've helped save many animals – it's a wonderful thing to be able to do,' said Mr Reynolds, who hopes to teach his daughter reiki as well.

'I get a lot of stick at work, but I have proved myself, so it doesn't bother me. You have to laugh at yourself to get from day to day.'
