Tipping the scales: Goldie the giant goldfish weighs more than 2lb

Watch out Jaws you could soon face some serious competition - from Goldie the goliath goldfish.

The much-loved pet is 15.7in long - nearly three times the size of the average goldfish - and is still growing.

He also weighs more than two pounds and is five inches tall. Experts say he will one day overtake the world's longest goldfish, an 18.7in whopper in Holland.

And it is not only size that makes Goldie some fin special. He is already 15-years-old. Even well cared for goldfish rarely live past 10.

Marine biologist Darren Gook of Great Yarmouth Sea Life Centre said:"I have never heard of any goldfish growing to this size - it's absolutely incredible. The fish is a monster."

Goldie's doting owner, Ada Shaw, 83, reckons her prized pet's amazing frame is down to three things: lots of love and attention, good grub and a bit of warm water in his tank."
