Judge lifts curfew on drug dealer because of 'unfashionable' tag

A man who supplied his best friend with a fatal heroin overdose has had his curfew lifted after a judge said he accepted that an electronic tag was 'hardly a fashion item' and could affect his job selling windsurfing equipment. At Exeter Crown Court in January, 22-year-old Aaron Morgan admitted supplying heroin to Alexander Newton who died from an overdose.

He was given a nine months prison sentence suspended for two years with conditions including a nightly curfew for six months.

Yesterday his counsel David Chidgey asked that the curfew, which had been in force for four months, be lifted as Morgan now had a job with a windsurfing equipment sales business.

Judge Graham Cottle agreed to lift the curfew saying: "Wearing an electronic tag is not a fashion item when it comes to working in shorts and trying to sell windsurfing equipment."
