Now bins need legal ‘guardian’

Council chiefs have been accused of 'draconian measures' after asking for householders' medical details in a wheelie bin crackdown.

Officials in Plymouth want to quiz residents on their health, ask how many children live with them and even how many disposable nappies they use.

They are also demanding that each family nominates a 'bin guardian' who would be prosecuted if they refused to recycle, or throw away too much.

A leaked letter outlining the plans also suggests quizzing people under caution, similar to the way police question criminals.

Plymouth resident Sid Anning said: 'I for one will not be signing any responsibility for my bin because it is not lockable and I do not intend to stand guard on it overnight.

'As to giving them my personal details or who lives in the house, frankly it's none of their business.'
