Shops prepare for the carrot crunch

Stores are getting ready for a carrot crunch to rival the credit crisis this Thursday when more than 230,000 internet users buy the vegetables in bulk in an online prank.

Trainee police officer Freya Valentine's Facebook page is calling on people to 'panic buy carrots' at 2pm on that day.



The group started as a joke but now has a huge number of members.

Miss Valentine, of Goring, West Sussex, and friend Jadie Birch, both 19, will turn their carrots into soup for the homeless.
