A Victorian bulldog had to undergo surgery after it swallowed a golf ball in mid-flight, the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) said.
Owner Marie Dibben took the one-year-old dog Louis to the veterinary charity's centre in Bournemouth, Dorset, after he caught the ball during a walk in a park.
Ms Dibben said: "Louis is a very energetic dog and he loves to run around the park. I knew straight away he'd swallowed the golf ball but poor Louis didn't. He was running around in circles trying to find it.
"Although he didn't seem in pain, I rushed him straight to PDSA. I was so worried he was going to choke."
At the Bournemouth PDSA PetAid hospital, veterinary surgeon Paul Cossey x-rayed Louis' stomach which showed the ball and that an operation was required to remove it.
Mr Cossey said: "The ball was stuck in Louis' stomach which was very lucky. If the ball had moved to the small intestines, it could have been life-threatening." Louis has now made a full recovery following the surgery and his two-day stay at the surgery.
