Georgian reporter shot on live television

A Georgian journalist has been shot by a sniper while recording a broadcast on the conflict with Russia.

Tamara Urushadze, a correspondent for Georgian state television, had just begun her report when the shot was fired. It brushed her left arm, leaving her bleeding.

After being struck, Ms Urushadze ran for cover with her camerman, hiding behind a vehicle before being given first aid by a television producer who was nearby.

While being bandaged, Ms Urushadze took back her microphone and continued her report, informing viewers that she had been hit.

As one of her team belatedly put a flak jacket on her, she said: "I have been hit by a bullet. You can see I am scratched here. Most likely it was a sniper. It has most likely been a light weapon since it's a minor wound.

"I can't say anything else at the moment because there is no one to be seen here and I have no idea who shot me."
