An 84-year-old Argentinian man fired five bullets into his head and one into his chest and remained conscious during the trip to hospital.
"You can say the man was still in his senses despite his injuries. He couldn't speak, but he communicated with gestures,'' police captain Herman Ruben Gab said after he responded to an emergency call by the man's nephew, who heard the shots.
He said he found Jacobo Beck inside his home, sitting in an armchair, with a .22 calibre pistol at his side and bullet wounds to the head and chest.
Mr Beck was taken to a nearby hospital where X-rays showed five bullet slugs lodged in his head and one in his chest, Captain Gab said. He said Mr Beck slipped into a coma soon after he arrived at the hospital and was listed in critical condition.
