Base-jumper narrowly avoids serious injury when his parachute fails to open

A base-jumper narrowly avoided serious injury when his parachute failed to open after he leapt off a mountain in Norway.

Hans Lange was performing the most death-defying free-fall jump of his career in a specially-designed winged suit, when he lost control in Romsdalen.

Mr Lange captured his ordeal on a camera attached to his suit, and footage shows him spinning out of control and shouting in agony as he crashes through foliage on the rocky mountain side.

Although his canopy failed to open he survived as a tree broke his fall. A Norwegian Air Ambulance team managed to lift him to safety.
