Christmas lights go up in market town in October

Christmas lights have already started to appear in one market town.

Despite temperatures soaring to more than 20C at the weekend, snowmen and seasonal lights were being put into place in Coleford, in the Forest of Dean.

The Gloucestershire town’s council said it was making an early start on its festive preparations because it relies on volunteers who give up their weekends for free.
It will also take weeks to check all the lights and ensure they are ready for the big switch-on in late November or early December.
