A dim-witted thief was caught red handed when he broke into a police honey-trap car – because he had his name and date of birth tattooed on his neck.
Aaron Evans, 21, of Lockleaze, was sent to prison for seven months after pleading guilty to smashing into a police covert capture car and taking a sat nav.
Bristol Magistrates Court heard how hidden cameras in the Peugeot 406, parked in the NCP car park in Trenchard Street, Bristol, captured his distinctive tattoo just below his right ear.
Evans asked for 12 other offences to be taken into consideration by magistrates, who sentenced him this morning to a total of 28 weeks in jail.
The court was told that Evans, who cannot read or write, has been in and out of prison since 2004 and has received three custodial sentences so far this year.
