A man suspected of possessing drugs was fed curries as police waited for nature to take its course, magistrates at Llandudno have been told.
Terrence Carney, 36, from Everton, Liverpool, was arrested on Anglesey and is charged with possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.
Police wanted him to remain in their custody, but his defence solicitor said the request was "purely speculative".
The court was told a hospital X-ray had shown no package inside Mr Carney.
Defence Richard Williams told magistrates: "He's been fed a number of curries over the last week".
Mr Carney was remanded to Altcourse prison in Liverpool until Thursday, 4 December.
