Leprechaun insult case dropped

An Irish mother-of-five said to been the target for a "leprechaun" racist insult says she is devastated that a judge threw out the case.

Eleanor Vince rang the police after her neighbour allegedly called her a "f..king leprechaun" which Ms Vince says was the last straw in months of harrassment.

Her neighbour, 18 year-old Andeliza Tucker, of Springwood Avenue, Garston, Liverpool, was arrested by police and taken in for questioning about the incident.

Miss Tucker was then brought before Judge Bryn Holloway at Liverpool Crown Court, who ruled that there was not in the public interest to proceed with the case.

Miss Tucker was accused of racially aggravated harassment but her barrister, Louise McCloskey compiled a lengthy document arguing the case should be dropped.

It was decided that the trial, which would have cost tens of thousands of pounds, should not proceed after Crown Prosecutor Michael Stephenson, conceded several areas of potential difficulty in the CPS case.
