Stabbed woman saved by £6 bra

A woman was saved from being stabbed in the chest when the underwire in her bra deflected the blade.

Barmaid Vicky Parsons was sitting in her car in Hull city centre when a 14-year-old boy threatened her at knifepoint before attempting to stab her.

As the attacker lunged at 26-year-old Miss Parsons, the serrated edge of the knife snagged on the wire that ran under the cup of her £6 Asda bra.

The point of the knife punctured her skin, but the wire stopped the blade travelling further.

Miss Parsons, of Patrington, said she feels lucky to be alive. "Thankfully the underwire in the bra took all the shock – it probably saved my life," she said.

The attacker, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to four years in a young offenders' institute for the attack.
