Staff at zoo strip off for calendar to help protect lemurs in the wild

Cheeky staff at Dudley Zoo are hoping their bare essentials will boost funds for a conservation project and raise a monthly smile at the same time.

Keepers at the award-winning tourist attraction shed their uniforms for the zoo’s 2009 calendar, and proceeds from sales will go towards their Madagascar Campaign to help lemurs in the wild. Keepers braved the chilly November weather to pose with popular animals.

Spokeswoman Jill Hitchman said: “It’s the first time we’ve done anything like this, but everyone had a great time.

“The keepers bravely bared all, despite the winter chill, to raise funds for a very worthy cause. Everyone had great fun during the shoot, and we are really pleased with the results.

The keepers just went for it and it was all shot in one day, too.

“And while it wasn’t exactly the warmest day in the world, everything went to plan and importantly under the circumstances, the animals all behaved themselves.”
