Worker attacked with machete, axe and pitchfork

A garden centre boss has been jailed for a series of violent attacks on a work colleague. Michael Thomas Parker, of The Farmyard, Godalming, subjected Mark Reene to a tirade of abuse and violence at the Larger Plant Company in Chertsey.

Guildford Crown Court heard that on one occasion Parker tried to gouge out Mr Reene's eyes with his thumbs.

The 51-year-old also hit him in the legs with an axe, stabbed him in the bottom with a pitchfork and threatened to chop him up and feed him to his dogs during the attacks, which took place over a period of six months.

Sentencing Parker to eight months in prison, Judge Michael Addison said: “This was a serious course of conduct of which only a custodial sentence can be justified.”
