A first grader has been expelled after bringing a loaded gun to school.
The 6-year-old boy had been sent to the principal's office at the Discovery Schools of Arts Wednesday afternoon because his pants were sagging and he had no belt, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's spokesperson Arden Wiltshire.
As a school administrator was helping the boy pull up his pants, the loaded weapon slid out of his pants and onto the floor, Wiltshire said. The boy said he found the gun in the trunk of his father's car and decided to show it to his friends.
Investigators determined that the .45 caliber gun had been stolen during a November 2008 robbery, according to detectives at the Sheriff's Victorville station.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the boy's home and found additional stolen property from several home burglaries including jewellery, a camera and a television, according to sheriff's officials.
They boy's father, 34 year old Michael Lewis, was arrested for receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a felon.
