Three men in Murray County have been arrested in what the sheriff calls one of the worst cases of animal abuse he's ever seen.
Late on Monday night the Murray County Sheriff's office responded to 130 Greyland Farm Road. Sheriff Howard Ensley says someone called dispatch reporting that men there address had cut a dog's head off, and were eating it.
When deputies arrived, they said they found three men covered in blood... Richard Roach, 50, Randall Blaylock, 54, and Geffery Fuller, 45.
The men first told deputies that that had just killed a deer in the backyard. But, Sheriff Ensley said authorities then found a bloodied ax in the back yard next to a chopping block where a dog's head had been cut off. The men then admitted to deputies that they had skinned their own dog, and put its meat in the freezer.
The animal's limbs and skins were in a burn barrel and the dog's carcass had just been put in the freezer. Authorities say all three men were drunk, and Fuller told deputies he had "just carried out God's plan."
All three men face aggravated animal cruelty charges, and their bond was denied. They will be in superior court next Wednesday.
