A court has annulled the marriage of a brother and sister who wed without knowing they shared the same mother.
Luminita Dodu, 21, from Mogosesti, eastern Romania, fell in love with her half brother when they met after growing up 20 miles apart. She set up home with Vasile Dodu, 27, and went on to have a baby daughter.
But this week Romania's family court ruled the marriage must be annulled and the couple were ordered to pay a 120 euro fine.
Luminita fled her village Dobrovat aged 17 because of a violent alcoholic father. She turned up 20 miles away in Mogosesti where Vasile saw her living on the streets and offered her a home. The half brother and sister lived together for three years before their child was born. But the pair learned the truth when they were contacted by their mother.
The couple are still living together and vow to fight any plans for social services to take their daughter Andreea.
Vasile said: "People treat us like we have the plague. It is harder for me to find a job now and people are not nice to us anymore. They say God will punish us one day for what we are doing."
