Thief helps woman who suffered fit then steals her shopping

A teenager has told how a woman put her in the recovery position as she suffered and epileptic fit and then stole her shopping.

Ashley Whitham, 17, collapsed while out shopping with a friend in The Mall St George's in Friargate, Preston, Lancashire.

The thief pretended to help Ashley by rolling her into the recovery position - but then fled with her white plastic shopping bag.



Ashley was so traumatised that she suffered another epileptic fit when she reported the incident to police and had to be taken to hospital, where she was kept in overnight.

Police want to speak to a woman captured on CCTV as part of their inquiries.

She is described as white, in her late 40s, medium build, wearing a three-quarter length white or cream jacket and black trousers.
