Woman finds four-yolk egg

Cafe boss Jane Holmes cracked open an egg — and discovered it had four yolks.

Jane discovered the egg as she cooked lunch for a customer. She was so excited that she called her supplier to report the find.

Daniel Brown, of Brown’s Eggs in Scarborough, North Yorks, said: “We’ve been delivering eggs 40 years and even my dad hasn’t seen one with four yolks before. The odds of a double-yolk are about 1,000 to one, so odds of four yolks must be phenomenal.”

The greatest number of yolks discovered in a single egg is nine.
