An Australian sports club captured a hairy intruder on its security camera, a cheeky possum ready to party.
The marsupial snuck in the Wests Leagues Club, in the western Sydney suburb of Leumeah, through the club’s front doors. The marsupial explored the reception area before inspecting the fountain.
The club’s bemused general manager, Tony Mathew, said the possum was one of the more unusual patrons the club had the pleasure of entertaining.
``We aren’t sure if it lived within the 15km radius and were concerned it may have been underage,’’ he said. ``We have a legal obligation to call the police if we are unable to get a patron to move on I guess we failed.’’
The possum disappeared into a wall cavity after being startled by curious club staff and patrons. The wily intruder was eventually chased from the venue after scampering from its hiding place.
Club marketing manager Cara Pring said the possum’s antics provided for some amusing footage on surveillance cameras around the venue.
