Simon and Sheba Cassini’s battle with Richmond Council to rename their new home have taken steps towards the absurd after the couple refused to give in to “barmy” new guidelines.
They have been told they can use “terminus words” including apartments, building, centre, court, heights, house, lodge, mansions, point, studio, tower, villas but not the one they wanted, Love Shack.
London Fire Brigade, which the council went to for advice, said Love Shack House would be acceptable but “Shack” would not as it fails to describe the type of building emergency vehicles may be attending - despite the house being inaccessible by road.
Mr Cassini, 51, said: “On the strength of it am considering applying for Loveshack Mansions or Loveshack Tower. Utterly descriptive of our single-storey shed barely three feet above the waterline at high tide. Loveshack Heights is also tempting if only for the puerile innuendo it permits”
