A bronze statue of a nude man has been stolen from an art gallery by a "well-dressed older lady" who placed it in her handbag. She was in her mid-50s, had dyed blonde hair and was wearing fake fur.
She took the statue, worth about £800, from a display at the Taliesin arts centre gallery at Swansea University's Singleton campus last month.
Gallery manger Lucia Hinder called the theft "brazen" and said she had not seen anything like it before. It is believed the woman walking into the gallery at about 1720 GMT on 13 February.
Mrs Hinder said: "When we realised it was stolen we looked at the cameras. I have never seen anything like it before. She was a well-dressed older lady.
"She hung around in the gallery shop area and then went into the gallery. She looks at the pictures and then picks it up."
Mrs Hinder said the statue was by Gillian Still whose work is on show at the gallery at the moment.
