The world's heaviest man still can't walk, but he will be able to go for a spin in his new 1989 Chevrolet Astrovan which has been outfitted to support his record-breaking weight. Manuel Uribe said the vehicle would give him mobility after more than six years confined to his bed.
Uribe earned the Guinness World Record as the world's heaviest man in 2006, when he weighed 560kg. He has since reportedly lost 226kg.
Mr Uribe, known as Meme to friends, said his new ride would be called the "Meme-Mobile". "Just like the Batmobile," he said.
The van has been converted into an open-air pickup with a bed. Mr Uribe said he would put a bed on the back of the van to drive around town, with his new wife at the wheel.
He plans to remodel his garage with a forklife to help raise his regular bed to the level of his car bed so he can change locations when he feels like it.
Mr Uribe said he also plans to start an auto parts business, and is thinking of taking a trip to the beach in May with his wife.
