Woman finds Jesus on cheese on toast

Linda Lowe believes Jesus is always watching over her. She just didn't think his vantage point was from a slice of cheese on toast.

It's been months, but a heavenly face is still visible in the bubbled and burned cheese, melted on top of a piece of loaf bread. The shoulder-length dark hair, faint halo and "sweet smile" looked all too familiar.

"I know there's a lot of people who believe there's some divine reason for it being there," said Lowe, who lives on Lake Bowen. "I just don't know, but I could never eat it."

The cheese on toast was made by Lowe's boyfriend, Dupree Gilbert, who also lives on the lake. While at his home one evening, not long before Christmas, Lowe mentioned she was hungry for a cheese on toast snack. Both noticed the likeness right after it came out of the oven.

"It came out just exactly like that. I didn't do anything special," Gilbert said. "The Lord works in mysterious ways, but I don't think there's any magic to it. But it is a reminder that the Lord is with you every day of your life."

Not wanting to eat the toast, Lowe preserved it in a plastic container covered with a paper plate. It's been on her dresser since and has yet to show any sign of going bad. She's since showed it to many friends, some who believe there's something divine about the image, and some who don't. The toast has become a popular topic of conversation among friends at her church, First Baptist North Spartanburg.
