An anonymous animal lover has left a bizarre tribute to a badger killed on the road.
The shrine, on the main road between Grange Lane and the Millhouse in Covenham St Bartholomew, mysteriously appeared alongside the body of the creature.
It features a wooden cross with 'RIP Billy Badger' written on it and two soft toys, a bear and a Mogwai toy from the Gremlins film.
Local councillor Lindsey Jeavons said: "No one can say we don't respect our animals here in our village as this anonymous donor has put a mark of respect on the roadside for him."
He added: "There are a number of suspects under suspicion for the murder of Billy Badger but up until now no one has come forward to confess."
Lindsey has asked anyone with information about the hit and run involving the badger to contact him. He concluded: "A memorial drink will be held at The New Plough in Covenham on Sunday at 1pm if anyone would like to say goodbye to Billy."

its on a hit and run - farmers have been illegally culling badgers for a couple of years and leaving them on the roadside - think back a few years - did you ever see a badger alive or dead - no - there is no evidence supporting this cull
