Firemen called to rescue peacock stuck upside-down in tree

A precariously positioned peacock prompted a daring two-hour rescue last night in Australia.

About 6.45pm concerned residents reported a peacock hanging upside down 20m above the ground beside the Kennedy Highway at Koah, between Kuranda and Mareeba.

The local auxiliary fire captain was responded to the scene but did not have ladders high enough to reach the creature.

A tree lopper was sourced to help with the rescue. The bird was freed about 9pm.
