Twin brothers have been cleared of punching a partygoer who could not tell them apart. Gavin and Rhys Higgins, of Blaengarw in Bridgend county, were both cleared of assault causing actual bodily harm.
Cardiff Crown Court heard a dispute had broken out over a pool match at a party in their local rugby club.
Darryl Churchill, 40, said he had been punched by one of the brothers, who are identical twins, but did not know which one.
The father-of-one admitted he could not tell the difference between them because they looked so alike. The judge told the pair: "You are free to go, boys."
After the verdict, Gavin Higgins said: "Me and my brother always seem to get dragged into trouble because we look alike. People are always mixing us up. We are just glad that the truth came out - but we are both innocent not just one of us."
Rhys Higgins said: "We were both innocent from day one. Neither of us attacked him that night - it is a massive relief. We can now just get on with the rest of our lives. Me and my brother will be celebrating tonight."
