Australian police probe teen girl attack on weatherman

It was a case of stormy weather - not for Sydney but for veteran Ten weatherman Tim Bailey after two teenage girls lunged at him during a live cross last night.

Bailey, who returned to work last night after a 10-day break, was presenting weather in front of The Australian Girls Choir for the 5pm news, when two girls, not part of the choir, grabbed him.

Bailey grabbed the arm of one of the girls and marched her away before the segment was abruptly cut, going back to Ten newsreader Deborah Knight in the studio.

Bailey said "all hell broke loose" in front of the startled choir girls, aged between eight and 16.

He said the girl scratched his face and then continued her rampage when the live cross was cut, roughly pushing a singing teacher in the head, then punching another woman attached to the choir before running off.

"The girl was absolutely wild-eyed and physical and just out of control," Bailey said.
