Man with oldest wife 'on heroin'

A 37-year-old Malaysian man married to a 106-year-old woman has been arrested on drugs charges.

Police in Terengganu, in Malaysia's north, said that Che Mat Nor Musa was arrested at his home on suspicion of taking heroin. Anti-narcotics officials said he would be sent to a drug rehabilitation centre in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

His marriage to Wook Kundor, who is almost 70 years his senior, created headlines after their 2006 wedding.

Ms Kundor, believed to be the oldest woman in the region, said she was aware that her young husband had undergone treatment for drug addiction in the past, but said their married life had been happy.

"I will allow him to receive treatment again so that he can be cured of his drug addiction and return here after that," she said.

A police spokeswoman said the arrest came after a lengthy investigation. "We carried out two months of surveillance after receiving the information so as to avoid wrongful arrest," she said. "After receiving counselling, he admitted having been admitted to (a) drug rehabilitation centre."
