A three-way sex encounter ended in a bloody mess early on Monday morning in Niwot. Serena Brooks, 30, faces possible charges of first-degree assault after authorities say she stabbed her boyfriend and another man in the back.
According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Brooks' boyfriend, 28-year-old Ruffin Griffin, met another man at a local bar and the two returned to his home and engaged in a sexual encounter with Brooks.
Investigators say Griffin and 27-year-old Clint Cadigan began fighting at which point Brooks grabbed a knife and, in an attempt to break up the fight, stabbed both men in the back.
Griffin and Cadigan then drove to a local hospital together for treatment. The injuries, while serious, were not considered life-threatening.
The Boulder Sheriff's Office said alcohol and drugs were involved.
Brooks also faces a charge of child abuse because her and Griffin's 6-year-old son was in the home at the time of the incident.
