A kitten who was chased under a moving car by a dog survived a 32km (20-mile) journey trapped under its engine.
Four-month-old tabby Lola became wedged in the casing as the passing car screeched to a halt.
She suffered burns to her paws as she clung on for dear life after the motorist drove off because there was no sign of her.
She was found three days later limping around the campsite where the driver ended his journey.
'I searched the area, thinking she had sloped off, but there was no trace,' said owner Vicky Rodgers, 58, of St Columb Major, Cornwall.
'I can't believe Lola managed to hang on for 20 miles to a hot engine. She's a bit timid, so she must have been absolutely terrified.' Lola is recovering well at home, she added.
