Ledge rescue for locked out man

A man locked out of his flat ended up stuck on a fourth floor window ledge after his failed bid to get back into his own property.

The incident happened at about 1430 BST on Thursday in the Lochside housing estate in Dumfries.

The man had got locked out and tried to enter his home by climbing up a pipe to get in through the window.

However, he got stranded and the fire service had to use its "aerial rescue" vehicle to bring him back to earth.

Dumfries and Galloway Fire and Rescue Service said: "The individual had locked themselves out and attempted to enter their home by climbing up a pipe and through the window.

"Unfortunately, the window was closed and they became trapped on the sill. Firefighters used the appliance to rescue them from this precarious position."
