Inquiry after police officer seen eating sausage roll

Police have begun an investigation into reports an officer was seen eating a sausage roll at the wheel of a patrol car on Wearside.

The Northumbria force confirmed it had received a complaint from a member of the public.



The complainant allegedly saw a police officer sharing the food with a colleague who was driving over speed bumps in Washington, near Sunderland.

In relation to the recent incident, a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "We have received a complaint from a member of the public, which will be fully investigated."
