Scaredy-cat tiger gets stuck on top of tower

A Bengal tiger has failed to live up to his fearless reputation after getting stuck at the top of a 15ft activity tower.

Two-year-old Tanvir was affectionately branded a ‘wimp’ by keepers at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxall, Bristol, after spending 24 hours (and counting) at the summit.

It had taken just seconds for him to scale the tower, which has branch-like platforms to test the tigers' ingenuity, but then his adventurous spirit disappeared.

For the past 24 hours Tanvir has been spotted peering over the edge of the platform and even dangling his paw over the side, as if to check how high up he is, before slinking back to safety.

He spent yesterday stretching and yawning, but resolutely refusing to come down.

Zookeepers said Tanvir was likely to gingerly descend the ‘enrichment tower’ when his hunger became unbearable - although tigers can go for five days without eating so he may have a long wait.

With more photos.
