Australian mother has triplets naturally at 47

At 47, Janelle Perry has become the oldest woman in Australia to give birth to natural triplets. When Ms Perry miscarried twins early in 2005, she and her husband Rob gave up hopes of extending their family.

The couple, both in their second marriage, had wanted to give their then three-year-old daughter Rebecca a brother or sister but, at 46, Ms Perry was in the twilight years of fertility and her chances of conceiving were next to zero.

"We sold all the baby gear and kept only one pink body suit and a pink bunny rug as a memento," Ms Perry said. Then, out of the blue, she fell pregnant with naturally conceived triplets, which doctors described as a one-in-10 million chance.

At 47, and already a grandmother from her older children, she gave birth to Cooper, Kyle and Jordan.
