Kitten survives 900-mile journey trapped under high-speed 100mph train

Curiosity proved no match for an adventurous cat which survived 900 miles beneath a train after hopping on at Banbury station. The four-week old kitten was spotted at Banbury station on Monday but ran off before anyone could rescue it.

It wasn't until 24 hours later that the cat, nicknamed Diesel by his Chiltern Railways rescuers, was heard meowing beneath the driver's cabin and taken to freedom.

It had found a spot underneath the carriage and stayed perched there throughout the day and night - during which time the train had travelled between London and stations in the West Midlands five times, totalling some 900 miles.

The moggy was taken to a vet, cleaned up and treated for worms, and has now found a home with a Chiltern Railways employee in Aylesbury.
