Two pugs left to feed on their owner's body for two weeks after he committed suicide are now looking for a new home.
Harry and Sally were discovered trapped in a house last week by police in Papillon, a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska, after their unnamed owner shot himself. Now officials at an animal rescue charity are looking for a new home for the pair of dogs.
Mark Langan, a spokesman for the Humane Society, said he could not verify whether the dogs had fed on the body, but added that it would be normal behaviour.
His colleague, Pam Wiese, a spokesman for the society, said the animals did not appear to have suffered long-term damage from the incident.
"They have been through temperament testing and they appear to be happy, fine, little guys," she said.
"What Harry and Sally went through is awful, but they are dogs. I don't think they think of it the same way we do," she added.
