210 pound Great Dane rescued from icy pond

A 15-stone Great Dane has been rescued after falling through the ice at a pond in Edinburgh.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service was called out to fish the dog, called Hector, from the water.

They secured a line to the land, broke through the ice and retrieved the animal.

The rescue took place at about 1000 GMT at the pond in Redbraes Grove. The dog's owner took it to the vet for a precautionary check-up.
